COVENTRY BEARS MASTERS TEAM LAUNCHED IN 2026

Too old for Rugby? Think your boots are hung up for good? Think again!

We are very excited to announce the launch of Coventry Bears Masters Rugby League

We’re looking for legends (aged 35+) to join the new community and maybe take part in some future events starting this Good Friday 3rd April.

Why play Masters?

Zero Pressure: Every single game ends in a 0-0 draw. No leagues, no cups, just pure rugby enjoyment.

Masters RL uses a unique coloured shorts system to ensure players of all ages—sometimes even into their 80s—can play safely side-by-side:

White/Black (35–49): Standard physical contact.

Red (50–59): "Grip" tackles only; players must be held but not necessarily taken to the ground.

Gold, Green, & Blue (60+): Strictly non-contact "touch" tackles.

Mental & Physical Health: It’s an opportunity to get fitter with teammates who will support you all the way.

The "Golden Rule": You must buy a drink for your opposite number after the final whistle!

GOOD FRIDAY 3RD APRIL 2PM KO

We are pleased to announce that the first ever Bears Masters team will play on Good Friday versus Ireland International Students Masters at Earlsdon RFC in Coventry with a 2pm kick off.

Players interested in taking part please contact us through social media and we can add you to our new Coventry Bears Masters WhatsApp group. The match will be followed by a reunion social from 5pm so we are hoping for a great turnout from players from every era of the club represented!
