Coventry Bears Volunteering and Recruitment
The following opportunities are available for application with the club. We are seeking to recruit a number of valuable volunteers who can join the club as we turn professional.
There will be a number of incentives for volunteers depending on the commitment given and number of weeks and fixtures committed too. We are seeking individuals to want to be involved in a new and exciting sport for Coventry and the midlands first and foremost.
Volunteering is a rewarding experience and can help individuals develop new skills for use at college, university or the workplace and nothing beats the ‘feel-good’ factor of being part of a successful sports club.
The below roles will require some hours of commitment during the week as well as on home and away match days. Incentives include Bears leisurewear, a free season ticket, and discount for family and friends to Bears games as well as the opportunity to meet the players and be a full part of the Bears set up. Some of the roles below may include some monetary expenses. Games will mainly be on Sundays.
Club related roles:
The below roles will require time during the week and on match days.
PR Officer (Role available immediately)
The PR Officer will be a confident and outgoing individual who has had some experience of promotions or media campaigns. The PR officer will be a key volunteer in the development of the club towards semi-professional status and growing our Roar database and support base.
Bears TV/ Media Developer (available immediately)
Our media developer will ideally have experience of film and video making and be very proficient in IT and video editing. The officer will become part of the team covering both home and away games and will work closely on team driven video matters as well as club promotions on YouTube and online.
Match day roles:
The below roles will require time on home match days.
Match Day Officer and Volunteer Co-ordinator
The match day officer will be an articulate and responsible individual who can plan and organise themselves well and has had experience of managing people. He or she should be confident and outgoing and able to work closely with all members of the club to ensure that the Match day experience is a good one for all fans, sponsors and key guests who attend the game.
The Match day officer will work closely with the clubs management to ensure that all is in place for a match day and be responsible for managing other volunteers who are part of the match day. (Estimated hours per week 3-4 hours on match day, 1 hour weekly planning and communicating with other volunteers)
PA announcers will be responsible for making all public announcements on match days.
In particular announcing teams to the field, substitutions and player sponsors. They will be a lively individual who has confidence on a microphone and a definitive personality that fans will enjoy engaging with. The individual must also get to know the players and club members as to be able to react quickly to actions on the field.
Sound controllers will be responsible for music played on match days and taking care of the PA system. They will be comfortable using IT equipment and liaise with the PA announcer to ensure smooth transition between announcements and music. They will possess the ability to generate an atmosphere from mixing and playing music to get the crowd up for the game and enjoying the game throughout with a positive upbeat atmosphere.
Our Gate officer will be responsible for managing ticketing at the gate on game days and ensuring that cash is collected and managed in the appropriate manner.
Match Day Stewards
Match day stewards will be responsible for the customer care of spectators and assist in checking tickets, seating spectators, selling match day programmes and taking care of the car park. Stewards will require a small amount of training.
Ball Boys/ Girls
The team of Ball Girls/Boys will be responsible for retrieving the match ball and returning it to the pitch side ensuring there is no delay in play during the match. The team will be supervised and supported by the Ball Girl/Boy Co-ordinator.
The Mascot volunteer will be required to wear the Bears mascot outfit during matches and at other promotional events. You will need to be energetic and outgoing and use your own initiative to make the character come alive in a safe and sensible way.
Match Day Hospitality Host/Hostess
The Match Day Host/Hostess will work closely with the Match Day Officer and club management to ensure that sponsors and away team guests and directors are looked after in the Hospitality bar.
